Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP) North Carolina, is a network of eight tuition-free, college-preparatory public charter schools educating approximately 3,000 students in grades K-12 in Durham, Halifax, Northampton and Mecklenburg counties. About HillRAP and Hill Learning Center
Hill Learning Center (Hill) is a K-12 learning hub located in Durham, North Carolina, that provides research-based, differentiated instruction and support for students with learning and attention challenges. It offers an array of programs for students and professional learning opportunities for educators. The Hill Reading Achievement Program (HillRAP) is a small-group (4:1) individualized reading intervention delivered by teachers and supported by technology and quality professional development. HillRAP has proven to close foundational gaps for students with persistent reading difficulties. KIPP NC will partner with Hill to provide intensive literacy intervention to identified students through a rigorous, three-year HillRAP partnership. HillRAP Interventionists will implement HillRAP at KIPP NC schools. HIllRAP Interventionists will be trained in HillRAP and multi-sensory, structured language instruction. They will be provided follow-up implementation support, mentoring, and coaching. Interventionists successfully completing the professional development program and demonstrating competent and consistent implementation will receive Level I Instructor certification accredited by IMSLEC and IDA. HillRAP is delivered on teacher and student iPads, and it utilizes Hill's technology-enabled Hill Learning System to facilitate a scalable, flexible, data-driven approach to better serve students, teachers, and schools.
Responsibilities of a HillRAP Interventionist
KIPP North Carolina teachers are at the core of our mission to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths needed to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond. As a HillRAP Interventionist and KIPP NC Teacher, your core responsibilities include:
Instruction
Deliver HillRAP literacy intervention to identified students in small groups (4:1) meeting consistently ~4 days per week for 45 to 60 minutes per group
Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and other school stakeholders by sharing student HillRAP data and problem solving to support students' classroom needs
Participate in student intervention meetings, family conferences, and Special Education referral meetings, as needed
Complete comprehensive professional development in literacy instruction through the Hill Learning Center, including:
Online courses in Science of Reading and Structured Literacy
HillRAP, HillWrite, and Hill Learning System Training
Ongoing observations, feedback, and individualized support from a dedicated Hill Learning Center mentor
Participation in a PLC led by a Hill Learning Center mentor
Level I HillRAP Certification in Year 1
Help Build a Positive School and Classroom Culture
Embody and maintain school's values, policies, and culture
Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff
Establish and maintain strong communication with all families and share progress
Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, and family teacher conferences
Demonstrate a Growth Mindset
Pursue challenging professional goals each year
Give and receive positive and constructive feedback with your colleagues
Participate in school-wide and individual professional development
Qualifications
The following are required of all KIPP North Carolina teachers:
Valid North Carolina teaching license in Elementary K-6, Middle Grades Language Arts or Reading, ability to seek reciprocity, or willingness to pursue state certification
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant content area
Passed or will pass the Praxis and Pearson exams by July 2021
Pass criminal background check
Demonstrated commitment to closing the opportunity gap
Zest, professionalism, and a sense of humor
The following are not required but are advantageous for candidates:
At least 2 full years of teaching experience in K-8
Experience in teaching in a high performing charter school and/or schools with a high population of students with free and reduced price lunch
Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of traditionally under-served students
Fluency in Spanish

Hours are M, Th, & F 7:30am - 3:30, Tu & W 7:30 - 5pm
Curriculum, materials, and resources are provided
Each month teachers have Teacher Work Days that include professional development, data analysis, and other important information to push their students' learning forward
