Job Description

REQUIREMENTS

Must be 16 years of age. Has or must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR. Ability to work a varying work schedule. Ability to interact with all age levels. Experience or willingness to work with children that have special needs Ability to work independently.

JOB DUTIES

Complete staff development training and an area specific training as assigned. Ability to maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude for learning, environmental stewardship, and fun. Responsible for a group (1:16) of campers to provide a safe, fun, and exciting camp experience. Check in and greet families upon arrival and departure. Work with supervisors to resolve participant behavior problems. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to campers and others in regard to general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and sportsmanship. Works as part of a team with other IROEC staff members and uses interpersonal communication techniques to ensure the success of the program and positive work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee must frequently lift and/or move moderate to heavy objects, which requires frequent and proper bending. The employee must frequently be on their feet walking and hiking for distances up to 4 miles at a time. Employees must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted. This position requires the employee to work outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions as well as dust, pollen, plant life, insects, and wildlife. The mission of The Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center is to serve all youth of Orange County by providing quality outdoor educational programs that instill in them an appreciation of the outdoors and the environment, teach effective teamwork, instruct about the cultural history of Orange County and provide access to the natural resources of the surrounding areas.
