Summary : This position focuses on multiple disease states within Allergy and Dermatology Therapeutic areas.

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) role is a field-based, customer-facing, non-promotional medical and scientific position. The MSL’s key objective is to impact clinical practice within the assigned territory to improve patient outcomes. The MSL must demonstrate deep therapeutic expertise, understand territory and market influences, engage scientifically with Healthcare Providers (HCPs) and medical experts, manage and develop their territory, and execute activities aligned with the medical strategic and tactical plan—while adhering to the Novartis Code of Conduct, Ethics/Compliance policies, and Working Practice documents. The MSL will inform and shape medical strategy by collecting impactful insights and understanding their strategic implications.

This territory covers No. CA and No. NV. The preferred location for the candidate is to reside in San Francisco, CA, within 50 miles of the territory border. Relocation is not available.

Role Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to build relationships and engage with HCPs and thought leaders in the geographic area, aligned with medical strategy.
  • Engage with customers on topics such as emerging data, clinical trials, patient journey barriers, market dynamics, unmet medical needs, pipeline discussions, disease state education, product information, adverse event reporting, and medical insights collection throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop strategic territory vision, identify key stakeholders, and plan Medical Engagements (MEs) and Key Accounts in collaboration with internal teams, based on medical strategy.
  • Identify opportunities for partnerships with academic centers and systems of care to impact the territory.
  • Identify opportunities for involvement of HCPs or MEs when specific medical needs are identified.
  • Collaborate internally with colleagues in Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, HEOR, Access, Marketing, and Sales to advance clinical practice while maintaining customer focus and compliance.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and Novartis products to serve as a medical resource.
  • Stay informed about internal policies and external regulations affecting daily responsibilities.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as CRM updates, profiling customers, and compliance training promptly.
  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities and territory needs, proactively pursue personal and professional development.

The pay range at start is estimated between $166,400 - $249,600 for Managers and $183,200 - $274,800 for ADs. Final compensation depends on location, experience, and other factors. Benefits include bonuses, stock units, medical and financial benefits, and paid time off.

About the Role : Requires a graduate degree in science or healthcare; doctoral degrees preferred. Experience requirements vary by level, with a minimum of 3 years in a relevant medical field for Managers and 3-7 years for ADs. Candidates must reside within the designated territory or within 50 miles of its border. Travel of about 60-70% is expected.
