About the Role: Wing is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Design team based in Palo Alto, CA . The position seeks highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working in a highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate a broad mechanical design, prototyping, and analysis skill set based on experience with driving products from concept, through prototyping and design, all the way to manufacturing. We’re looking for people who are intrinsically driven to solve hard problems with stunningly simple solutions, move fast, and are highly adaptive. What You’ll Do: Brainstorm creative solutions to mechanical, manufacturing, and mechatronic problems Design elements of the aircraft and/or ground support infrastructure in CAD Sketch, design, build and test prototypes or proof of concepts Perform detailed design of manufacturing ready parts in CAD Complete engineering analysis from hand-calcs to FEA, and thorough testing of your assemblies to ensure they are flight-ready! Work with teammates to collaborate and push for simple and elegant assemblies Strive for data-driven decisions that are well understood and communicated throughout the team Interface tightly with manufacturing, electrical, UX and other teams on Wing Collaborate with external vendors to bring your ideas to life at scale What You’ll Need: BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience 5+ years of full-time professional industry experience is required Proficient in CAD software and EPDM (SolidWorks preferred) Experience in designing robust mechanical assemblies, tightly integrated electronics enclosures and thermal solutions for manufacturing at scale Experience analyzing static and dynamic systems through hand calculations and FEA Practical knowledge of rapid prototyping fabrication and test methods Experience in driving fast development cycles with vendors locally and abroad Ability to work independently, navigate trade spaces, and work within tight timelines Highly adaptable and collaborative and effective communicator across functional teams The US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits.
