Job Description

Were looking for a highly skilled and motivated Director of Engineering to help lead our team.

We are a fast growing fintech firm building responsible AI solutions for financial professionals. With strong product-market fit and an exceptional team, we are poised for significant expansion. We are proud to call hundreds of the top financial institutions and corporations around the world our customers.

We value a culture where you can thrive, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with minimal bureaucracy. If you are excited about joining a mission-driven team of problem solvers that is building transformative technology and positioning itself as an industry leader, we would love to connect.

About The Role:

As the Director of Engineering, you will:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, mentoring, and performance management to a distributed engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and learning.
  • Define and implement our engineering roadmap in alignment with business objectives.
  • Oversee architectural decisions and technical choices that will ensure the development of scalable, reliable, and secure systems, delivered on schedule.
  • Develop engineering KPIs, manage sprints, and remove blockers to maintain velocity.
  • Be hands-on enough to provide oversight, help write and review product and development design documents, perform code reviews, and set direction.
  • Evaluate and integrate new technologies where appropriate.
  • Keep current with industry trends and emerging technologies, especially in AI.
  • Participate in budgeting and resource planning conversations with the CTO.

About You:

We're selective in our hiring process, and we seek engineers who not only match our startup DNA, but also share our core motivations and company values:

  • Driven by curiosity, and a desire to create real, lasting value for our customers.
  • Motivated to build tools with pride, believing that every detail matters.
  • Committed to writing elegant, maintainable code that empowers the team.
  • Able to thrive in a collaborative environment with minimal bureaucracy.
  • Have a track record of wearing multiple hats and adapting to new technologies.
  • Understand that startups occasionally require flexibility in work hours and responsibilities.
  • Value taking initiative and getting things done over rigid processes and direction.

We believe that the best communicators are teachers at heart, starting with empathy and seeking to create alignment rather than conflict, to mobilize their team to get more done, faster. If you're energized by the idea of joining a mission-driven team, building something transformative, and positioning yourself within an industry-leading firm, then we'd love to connect.

We also expect the right candidate to meet the following criteria:

  • 8+ years in software engineering roles, including 3+ years in engineering leadership.
  • Be proficient in tooling and practices around industry-standard generative AI systems.
  • Have a track record of managing and scaling engineering teams in a high-growth environment.
  • Have strong development skills in modern programming languages, such as python.
  • Have deep familiarity with cloud services (AWS/GCP), distributed systems, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Have a strong understanding of relational databases, like Postgres and MySQL.
  • Possess strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Possess an analytical mind, with a bias for action and pragmatic problem-solving.
  • Are interested and excited by the challenges and opportunities of startup life.
  • Competitive salary with company equity
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance with 100% company-covered premiums
  • Well-funded Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • 401k and equity plan
  • A flexible work environment that cares only about deliverables
  • Unlimited PTO (for real)
    • includes a mandatory end-of-year 2-week PTO for the entire team(so everyone feels comfortable being fully unplugged!)
