Position Summary (major areas of contribution):
Under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Supervisor, the Cabinet Builder will manufacture wood products according to drawings and specifications provided in a high pace environment, to assure timely manufacturing of product to customer specifications.
Essential Functions / Job Responsibilities:
Assembles millwork components such as doors, base cabinets, and other items as required. Processes include insertion or positioning of materials, clamping, splicing, fitting parts and use of both hand and power tools. Common woodworking environment, drill guns, nail guns, tape measure on an assembly line.
Plans and implements the assembly process by reading and understanding shop drawings and gathers necessary materials and tools to complete order.
Ensures that assembled items meet specific quality specifications; may propose process improvements in order to increase finished quality or efficiency of assembly processes
Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related production goals. This position is a fast-paced assembly environment
Responds attentively to training from Leader, Supervisor, or more senior assemblers in order to increase own knowledge of work processes
Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers.
Restock inventory and clean the shop on a daily basis or as directed by manager/supervisor
Able to adhere to the company’s established standards of high quality and deadline driven schedules simultaneously.
Post laminating cabinets and parts as needed
Minimum Qualifications / Skills:
Including Formal Training (courses, degrees, and credentials required):
Follow procedures in company handbook and other documents
Good communication skills
Maintain professional attitude when approaching work assignments
Displays a sense of urgency towards completing assigned tasks
Assists in developing timely solutions to problems
Maintain outstanding attendance
Knowledge of and ability to use a variety hand and power tools to assemble millwork products
Must be able to read a tape measure.
Manual dexterity
Must be able to work at fast, steady pace to meet goals.
Knowledge of safety procedures while performing assembly tasks
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints
Ability to be a self-starter and take on task without being asked to do so.
Extensive knowledge of materials, wood working processes and wood working tools.
Must know machine set-ups for a wide variety of woodworking equipment.
Must pass a tape measure test
Must be able to use a Miter Box/ Chop Saw
Must be able to use a Pneumatic T-Nailer
Must be able to Laminate (Familiar with contact cement and a cup gun to spray different type surfaces consistently in production capacity). Preferred, not required.
1st shift - 6:00 am to 4:30 pm M-F. Must be Able to work Saturdays, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by Plant Manager and/or Manufacturing Supervisor
Experience (type and amount of experience required):
5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing facility.
MUST have at least 3+ year experience building wood products.
Requirements:
Working conditions are normal for a plant environment. Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time. Use hands and fingers, able to bend, kneel, climb, crawl, push and pull. Must be able to raise arms (above shoulders regularly) and freely rotate shoulders/arms to lift/move parts on and off any machine or worktable. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently. Must wear steel toe shoes, eye, and ear protection while on the floor.
